New restaurant supports YMCA

Friday will be a big night — for both a new restaurant and the YMCA.

A new restaurant opening for business on Friday, Oct. 23, will donate all its proceeds from that night, as well as Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24-25, to the Riverbrook Regional YMCA.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m., Friday, at REN Dumpling & Noodle House, in the Gateway Plaza at 14 Danbury Road. The restaurant’s Chinese cuisine features Szechuan style dishes and dim sum.

The restaurant’s owner and head chef is Eric Xie, who is also head of Village Gourmet restaurant in Norwalk.

“This wonderful Norwalk business owner is expanding to Wilton, and we couldn’t be happier,” state Sen. Toni Boucher (R-26) said. “Chef Xie reached out to Sen. [Tony] Hwang and me recently to express his desire to help one of Wilton’s nonprofit groups.  Since the YMCA now serves both Wilton and Norwalk, this was a great fit. The Y does so much for our communities, and this generous offer from Eric will help to benefit many area residents. We encourage people to try this new restaurant and spread the word about this opening. The food is delicious and I plan to take my family!”
