Debra Hanson will be Chamber’s new executive director

The Wilton Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced on Dec. 15 that Debra Hanson has been appointed to executive director, the Chamber’s only full-time employee.

On Jan. 4, she will fill the position left vacant by Janeen Leppert. Leppert left the Chamber in October to pursue another opportunity at a marketing and public relations firm in Charlotte, N.C.

According to Chamber President Mark Ketley, “Debra is no stranger to the Wilton community.”

“She has been involved as a volunteer on the board of the Wilton Chamber for many years,” serving six terms as a general board member, “several” as vice president of community relations, and has also served as board president, Ketley said.

Hanson, a Wilton resident, is an advertising media sales and management professional “with over 20 years’ experience” in Fairfield County, including Wilton. Previously, she was employed by The Hour Publishing Co. and C&G Media.

“We are excited to bring Debra on board as our new executive,” said Ketley.

“We interviewed many qualified applicants, but Debra’s experience in marketing and advertising, plus her history with Wilton businesses through her past work as a Chamber board member, really made her stand out as a person that is going to take the Chamber to the next level.”
