Senior Center News

This Wednesday, the Wilton Woman’s Club will prepare the monthly senior center luncheon. Each month local religious and civic organization teams prepare a delicious lunch which is open to all Wilton seniors. Lunch ($3) takes place at the Ogden House, 100 River Road, at noon and is followed this month by a session of bingo hosted by the Wilton Woman’s Club. Call the senior center 203-834-6240 for reservations.

Play reading

Andrea Ragusa moderates the play reading and discussion group at the senior center on the first Monday of the month from 12:30 to 2:30. Participants are invited to take a role or just read along and join in the discussion afterward. Copies of each play are available in advance at the senior center.

On Oct. 7, the play is Mrs. Warren’s Profession by George Bernard Shaw, which centers on the relationship between Mrs. Warren, a brothel owner, and her daughter Vivie, who has just come home from college to get acquainted with her mother for the first time in her life.

Upcoming plays: Nov. 4, Harvey by Mary Chase; Dec. 2, A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody by Ron Bernas; Jan. 6, August: Osage County by Tracy Letts; Feb. 3, Merry Wives of Windsor by William Shakespeare, Acts I, II, & III; March 3, Merry Wives of Windsor, Acts IV & V; April 7, Red by John Logan; May 5, Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris.

Sonia Katz will offer a self-hypnosis seminar on four Thursdays, Oct. 3 and 17, and Nov. 7 and 21, at 2 p.m. at the senior center. She will teach how to achieve relaxation through breathing techniques, guided meditation and position, and how to plant the proper suggestions in the unconscious mind in order to achieve goals.

There is a $5 drop-in fee; advance registration recommended.
