The Wilton Kiwanis Club conducted its most successful food drive ever during the first weekend of December. Club members were posted at the Village Market and Stop & Shop where they collected a record-level of donations.

“We can’t thank the people of Wilton and the Wilton Kiwanis enough,”  said Lauren Hughes, the town’s coordinator of senior services. “We can always count on them to open their hearts to support those in need.”

Kiwanis president Jack McFadden quoted Dickens in saying “want is most keenly felt, and abundance rejoices,” adding,“we are proud to be part of a caring community.”

Over the years, recently under the leadership of Kiwanian Jeff Turner, the Kiwanis Club has collected food and donations valued at $40,000 to $45,000 annually. Always looking for active service-minded neighbors, the Kiwanis Club invites volunteers to join in the next food drive in the spring.
