Roof repair Work on the roof above the town clerk’s office at town hall is nearly complete, according to First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice. The Board of Selectmen approved funding for an emergency roof repair in August, following a downpour which caused a leak over the vault in the town clerk’s office where sensitive documents are stored. The board approved up to $60,000 for the repair. Vanderslice said the work was coming in around the $50,000 range. The expense will be funded from this year’s budget due to overages from salaries for town positions that had not been filled due to vacancies, Vanderslice said. Route 7/Merritt Parkway Wilton officials are keeping an eye on a state DOT project to improve the roadway linkage between Route 7 and Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) at Interchange No. 39 in Norwalk. The project is billed as an initiative to provide missing connections between Route 7 and the Merritt, and improve mobility and safety at the Main Avenue and Route 7 interchanges. A public meeting on the project was held Nov. 14 at Norwalk City Hall. Vanderslice said town officials are keeping track of what is happening with the Merritt project in light of DOT’s project to improve the nearby Grumman Hill Road/Route 7 intersection. She said the city of Norwalk has also received a $7 million grant to make improvements at the Grist Mill intersection, which is also along Route 7. Grumman Hill is used as a cut-through by commuters and there have been a number of motor vehicle accidents there, including a fatality, Vanderslice said. Investment consultant The town of Wilton is issuing an RFP (Request for Proposals) for an investment consultant for the town’s pensions. The town’s current investment consultant is FIA (Fiduciary Investment Advisors) which has an office in Windsor. First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice said the town periodically puts out RFPs for professional services, such as legal counsel and town auditor. She said it’s been about five years since there has been an RFP for an investment consultant so the time was right to do it.
