Route 7 is reopened — accident victims suffer life-threatening injuries

Noon — Wilton police issued an updated report on the two-car collision that closed a portion of Danbury Road (Route 7) Friday morning, Jan. 11. The accident, which occurred just before 7 a.m., involved a 2000 Chevy Cavalier driven by Dominick Richards, 21, from Bethel, traveling south on Danbury Road, which crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a 2011 Chevy Malibu traveling north, driven by Dorene Suggs, 55, of Norwalk.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their cars and were taken to Norwalk Hospital by the Georgetown Fire Department with life-threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation and police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to call police at 203-834-6260.

11:15 a.m. — Wilton police report Danbury Road (Route 7) has been reopened.

9:30 a.m. — A two-car, head-on collision in the area of Danbury Road and New Street has closed Danbury Road (Route 7) northbound in Georgetown, south of the School Street (Route 107) intersection, until further notice.

Wilton police responded to the accident around 7 a.m. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and were transported to Norwalk Hospital due to injuries, according to police.

As of 9:30 a.m., the accident remains under investigation by the Wilton Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team. According to police, the road will remain closed for several hours during the investigation.
