14 wins and counting: Wilton girls hoop team tops Trinity

The Wilton High girls basketball team notched its 14th consecutive win Tuesday night in the hostel confines of the Trinity Catholic gym in Stamford.

In a physical contest, the Warriors defeated the Crusaders, 52-47.

The win moves Wilton’s record to 16-2 overall and 14-2 in the conference and kept the Warriors tied with Westhill and Trumbull for the FCIAC’s second-best record behind Danbury, whom Wilton plays Thursday at home.

Wilton held a 20-15 lead at the half against Trinity. The action and scoring picked up in the second half, with Trinity holding the lead at the end of three quarters. Wilton pulled out the win in the final eight minutes with the help of Erica Meyer, who went eight for eight from the foul line in the period.

Casey Pearsall led the Warriors with 16 points and seven assists. Erin Cunningham finished with 15 points and Meyer added 12 points. Alyssa Malvarosa had seven rebounds.
