The Wilton Woman’s Club and Wilton Firefighters Local 2233 held a holiday luncheon for Ogden House residents on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
The annual luncheon is a tradition started by the firefighters in 1985 as a way to thank seniors for their years of support. Wilton Woman’s Club members quickly became involved and were on hand again to prepare the meal, compliments of the firefighters, who funded the event.
Musicians from Middlebrook School entertained the group with holiday music, and student government representatives had the seniors laughing and singing along in the true spirit of the holidays.
The holiday spirit continued into Christmas Eve, when the Wilton Woman’s Club — along with members of the club’s Junior Leadership Program, as well as Wilton High School students and alumni — provided 42 holidays meals for homebound Wilton residents.
Various dishes were pre-cooked and delivered to the Ogden House activity room, where they were assembled and festively wrapped before being distributed throughout the community — including to seniors at Wilton Commons.
