Wilton track: Colbert, McCormick qualify for New Englands

Chris Colbert had a pair of second-place finishes at Monday’s State Open in New Britain to highlight the effort by the Wilton High track and field teams.

Colbert finished second in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 22.06, and also took second in the 400 with a time of 49.07.

For the Wilton girls, Morgan McCormick placed second in the 3200 meters in a season-best 10:45.76, which set a new school record.

Andreen Reid finished 19th in the long jump with a leap of  15’9.5”.

Colbert and McCormick both qualified for this Saturday’s New England championships at the University of New Hampshire.

Colbert’s 16 points helped the Wilton boys to a 14th-place finish at the Open. The Wilton girls were 32nd with eight points.
