The Wilton gymnastics team won its first state title since 2009 on Saturday at the Class M state championships at Pomperaug High School.
The Warriors also qualified as a team for the State Open for the first time since 2009, with a score of 136.175.
Wilton beat defending champ Daniel Hand, which was second with 134.475. They were followed by Pomperaug (128.225), Wethersfield (127.475), New Milford (127.4), Darien (127.25), Conard (122.675) and Fairfield Warde (122.425).
Jess Olin led the way, placing first overall on vault (9.2) and floor (9.625), and second overall on bars (8.85) and beam (8.8). She had an all-around score of 36.475.
Lilly Byrnes was second overall on floor with a 9.5.
Brooke Taffler was fifth overall on vault with an 8.85, and Carter Siegel was 10th with an 8.5
On beam, Siegel and Kate Ginsburg tied for eighth overall with scores of 8.45.
As a team the Warriors were first on vault, bars and floor, and second on beam.
The State Open begins at 10 a.m. next Saturday at Pomperaug. The top four scoring teams from the division championships qualified. In addition to Wilton, the qualifying teams are Class L champ Greenwich (145.425), Class L runner-up Trumbull (140.9) and Class S champ Woodstock Academy (139.175).
