A workshop on housing as part of the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Trackside Teen Center, 15 Station Road.
There will be opportunities for the public to comment.
“Housing is a very important subject for the town. The hope is to hear comments and suggestions and ideas from residents, and also other stakeholders that might include people who look at housing from a social policy perspective, or developers, or home builders, or Realtors or even the banking industry,” said Bob Nerney, the town planning director.
“We’ll get these topics on the table and discuss where we are today, and visoning toward the future and better understanding,” he said.
It’s a question of smart growth, recognizing a correlation between housing needs and overall economic vitality of the community, Nerney said. There may be opportunities to encourage strong synergies between housing and commercial uses. He is looking forward to public participation.
“We’re trying to generate excitement. Historically Wilton has been a town very active in participation and we want to keep those fires burning, in a very positive manner,” Nerney said.
Those unable to attend, may write to the commission by emailing [email protected], or visiting the Plan of Conservation and Development website at www.wilton2029.com, where they can submit comments.
The commission also asks the public to like and share the Facebook page, through the website, to get scheduling updates and invitations to events and online surveys.
