Wilton man is killed in accident on Old Ridgefield Road

A Wilton resident died following an accident on Old Ridgefield Road last night. Raymond Kamaitis, 66, of Boulder Brook Road was killed after his 2012 Nissan Rogue collided with a tree in front of Luca’s Wine Bar.

Police say they responded to the area of 134 Old Ridgefield Road around 6:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a “serious motor vehicle accident” involving two passengers in a single car. The first officers to arrive found Mr. Kamaitis with “no signs of life,” and initiated CPR. They also found the second passenger, Leslie Cullen, 55, of Boulder Brook Road, suffering significant injuries.

Both passengers were brought to Norwalk Hospital, where Mr. Kamaitis was pronounced dead later that evening. Ms. Cullen was treated and admitted to Norwalk Hospital as a result of her injuries.

According to reports, Mr. Kamaitis was driving south on Old Ridgefield Road when he suddenly crossed into the northbound lane, drove over the sidewalk, and struck a tree off the road.

The road was closed for several hours. Wilton EMS and Wilton Fire Department also responded.

Further investigation will be conducted. The accident investigation remains open.
