The Wilton High wrestling team had its best showing ever at the Fairfield Warde Invitational, with three champions and six place winners on Saturday.

The Warriors also placed fifth out of 24 teams in the overall standings, the best finish in their 10 years of attending the tournament. Wilton was just one point behind fourth-place Simsbury.

All in all, the Warriors set team records for the tournament for champions (3), finalists (4), place winners (6) and overall finish (fifth).

Travis Longo, Nick Rende and Zach Zeyher all won championships in their weight classes, while Jacob Robb was a finalist and placed second.

It was the third year in a row that Rende has won the Warde tourney, and the second straight title for Longo.

Rende won a 6-2 decision over Tommy Mazor of Westhill in the finals at 126 pounds, finishing the tourney with a 3-0 record and two pins.

Longo pulled out an 8-6 overtime win over Ty Finn of Simsbury in the 106-pound championship match. He was 3-0 on the day with a pin.

Rende and Longo were both seeded first in their weight classes.

At 170 pounds, Zeyher — the second seed — won a 12-5 decision over top-seeded Adam Hendrick of Daniel Hand in the finals. He was 4-0 on the day with two pins and two lopsided decisions.

Robb also wrestled above his seed (third) to reach the championship match at 182 pounds, where he lost by pin to top-seeded Dane Concascia of Montville. Robb finished the tourney 2-1 with a pin.

Also placing at the tourney were Finn McGovern, who was fourth at 120 pounds; and Ethan Helman, who finished fifth in the 285-pound weight class.
