Y gymnasts finds success at Harvest meet

The Wilton YMCA Gymnastics Team kicked off the season on Nov. 12 with a strong showing at the Harvest Invitational in Trumbull.

Overall, the Level 6 and 8 teams placed first all-around and the Level 4 team placed second all-around.

Level 4

In ages 8-10, Taylor Archembeau earned fifth in the all-around in her first-ever competition, and was second on vault and fourth on both beam and floor. Alyssa Mariani took third on beam (9.0) and floor, and was fourth on vault. Cailyn Cruickshank placed fifth on both vault and floor.

In age 11, Lauren Condon was second on beam, third on floor, and fourth on bars.

In age 12, Ella Mancuso earned the title of all-around champion, with first on beam (9.0), second on bars (9.0) and floor, and third on vault.

Jeni Von Bartheld was third in the all-around, placing second on vault, and third on bars, beam and floor.

Ella Arghirescu was fourth in the all-around, taking second on beam and floor, and fourth on bars.

Isabella Silverstein took home fourth on floor and fifth on vault and bars. Emma Incao came in fourth on vault, and Elizabeth Fahey placed fourth on beam and fifth on floor.

In ages 13-over, Simona Gheorghe handily took first place in the all-around, with first on beam (9.1) and bars, second on vault (9.0) and third on floor. Maddie Moscara was fourth in the all-around with third on bars and beam, and fourth on vault and floor.

Level 5

In ages 12-13, the lone Wilton representative, Alyssa Smeriglio, placed fifth on vault, beam and floor.

Level 6

In ages 10-11, Ashley Umhoefer swept gold across the board for first in the all-around, with first in vault (with an incredible score of 9.8), bars (9.4), floor (9.15) and beam.

In ages 12-13, Alyson Scheurkogel handily earned first place in the all-around, grabbing first on floor (9.0) and beam (9.0), and second on vault (9.45) and bars.

Donna Stepnowsky took home the trophy for third in the all-around, coming in first on vault (9.5), second on beam and third on floor.

Grace Condon was fifth in the all-around, placing second on floor, third on beam and fifth on bars.

Sofia Blessing’s return to competition resulted in third on bars, fourth on floor, and fifth on vault and beam.

In ages 14-15, Ava Walker earned the title of all-around champion, taking first on vault (9.0) and bars, second on beam (9.1) and fourth on floor.

Michaela Kane took home third in the all-around, with second on vault, bars and floor, and fourth on beam.

Level 8

In ages 12-14, Mia Karlehag was the all-around champion, with first on vault, beam and floor (9.2), and second on bars.

Olivia Mannino took home the silver all-around trophy, placing first on bars and second on vault, beam and floor (9.0).

Sarah Collias took bronze across the board on all four events, and placing third in the all-around.

In ages 15-over, Sam Huffman was back in the game, taking the title of all-around champion and coming in first on bars and beam, second on floor, and third on vault.

Kate Ginsburg was second in the all-around with first place on vault (9.0) and floor, and second place on bars and beam.

Emma Daugherty rounded out the podium with third in the all-around, earning second on vault and third on bars, beam and floor.
