| Football: Wilton drops Turkey Day game to Trinity |
|
Fullback Mike Cortese scored three touchdowns as Trinity Catholic defeated host Wilton, 21-14, in the teams' annual Thanksgiving Day rivalry game this morning. The Warriors finished the season with a 6-5 record. Wilton took a 7-0 first-quarter lead on Vinnie Cannon's 29-yard TD pass to Scott Young. The Crusaders (7-4) tied the game on their next possession and then went ahead on their first series of the third quarter. Cortese's third touchdown pushed the lead to 21-14 with under three minutes left in the game. Wilton then blocked a punt and pulled within a touchdown as Cannon connected with Sam Sherman on a 12-yard scoring pass with 1:09 left. But Trinity recovered Wilton's onside kick and ran out the clock. See next week's Bulletin for more coverage. |
