Families invited to Hanukah event

The Jewish holiday of Hanukah began this week, and according to Rabbi Rachel Bearman at Temple B’nai Chaim in Georgetown, for most of Jewish history, it was regarded as a minor festival.

The sun hangs low in the winter sky. The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day — and longest night — of the year.

Nationwide vigil commemorates Newtown shooting anniversary

In commemoration of the second anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy the Unitarian Church in Westport will hold a vigil Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
