State Rep. Gail Lavielle makes her first ever ham radio contact with the help of Jim Francoeur and Marty Diamond at the Greater Norwalk Amateur Radio Club’s (GNARC) field day event. She spoke with a ham radio operator in Ohio. As part of the annual amateur radio field day competition, groups like the GNARC gain extra points for recieving elected officials as guests, and explaining the uses of amateur radio to them. Field day is also an event intended to attract the attention of those area residents who may be interested in learning more about amateur radio operation. (Paul Lourd/wiltondigital.com)
