Gene Arthur Connor, age 76, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. He was a resident of Hyannis, Mass., for the past 15 years. Prior to retiring to Cape Cod, Mr. Connor lived in Wilton for 26 years and in Medfield, Mass. for 10 years.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 30, 1936 to the late Vincent and Agnes Connor, Mr. Connor grew up in Manhasset, N.Y. He was predeceased by his brothers, Douglas and Donald and sister, Grace. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1954 and received a bachelor of science from Villanova University in 1958. He was founder and president of Allied Stainless in Stamford.
Mr. Connor enjoyed sports and coaching his children’s teams. He also enjoyed playing tennis, gardening and was an accomplished bird carver. He was never afraid to tackle any type of home project.
“He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren,” his family said. “Gene was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and forever remembered.”
Mr. Connor is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judith (Staples) Connor, three children and eight grandchildren: Stephen Connor (Patty), Shelby and Brendan of Wilton; Cathleen Rogers (Richard) of Medfield, Mass., Melissa Messing (Dave) and Kelsey Rogers; Tracy Bock (Malcolm) of Medfield, Laura, Alison, Sarah and Gavin.
