The Wilton High gymnastics team just missed out qualifying for the State Open as a team, after finishing second at the Class M state championships on Saturday at Pomperaug High School.
The Warriors scored a 135.925, finishing behind Daniel Hand (139.275).
The top four teams from the three class meets advanced to next week’s Open – Woodstock Academy (142.950), Hand (139.275), Southington (138) and Glastonbury (136.175). Wilton was fifth.
On the vault, the Warriors were led by Christina Brandt, who was sixth overall with an 8.65. Also scoring were Sara Posson (8.45), Payton Piedmont (8.4) and Ashley Bascom (8.35).
Annie Saltarelli was fourth overall on bars with an 8.65, followed by Piedmont (8.3), Morgan Leddy (8.25) and Brandt (8.075).
On beam, Wilton was led by Bascom, who was fourth overall (8.85), and Piedmont, who was fifth with an 8.8. They were followed by Leddy (8.5) and Brandt (8.5).
On the floor, Bascom was fourth overall with an 8.95, while Saltarelli was fifth overall (8.7). Brandt scored 8.45 and Piedmont scored 8.1.
