Boys hoop: Norwalk loss makes Wilton sixth seed for FCIACs

The Wilton High boys basketball team keeps moving up in the FCIAC standings, even when it doesn’t play a game.

Norwalk’s loss to Harding-Bridgeport on Thursday night bumped idle Wilton from the seventh to to the sixth seed for the conference playoffs, which begin Saturday.

Norwalk would have been seeded sixth if it had beaten Harding.

The Warriors will now face third-seed Westhill in an FCIAC quarterfinal game Saturday at noon at Fairfield Ludlowe. The winner advances to the semifinals on Tuesday.

Wilton lost to Westhill, 59-53, in the season opener back on Dec. 12 in Wilton. The Warriors then dropped their next two games before winning 13 of their final 17 contests to finish 13-7.

Westhill ended the regular season with a 15-5 record but has lost four of its last five games.
