Rodriguez not returning as Wilton High girls soccer coach

The Wilton High girls soccer team will enter the 2013 campaign with its third head coach in three seasons.

Megan Rodriguez, who coached the Warriors last fall and for part of the 2011 season, did not have her contract renewed for next season, according to Wilton High Athletic Director Christy Hayes.

Hayes declined to get into specifics.

“All coaches are reviewed during the off-season,” he said. “We thought it was best to go in a new direction.”

Rodriguez, who played at Hamden High and Central Connecticut State University, replaced Scott Neumann in early in the 2011 season. Neumann was placed on administrative leave following an allegation of misconduct and then resigned as both a coach and a teacher at Wilton High.

Under Rodriguez, the Warriors went 10-5-5 in 2011, reaching the FCIAC semifinals, and 11-5-4 last fall, losing in the FCIAC quarterfinals and the Class L state tournament quarterfinals.
