Light snow could be this week’s theme

The light snow many woke up to this morning is expected to be a trend this week.

Light snow is expected to continue through 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, Feb. 5, bringing another half-inch on top of the dusting that fell in the area overnight. There could be more light snow throughout the day, but most of it in the morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Total daytime accumulation is not expected to exceed an inch, according to the weather service. Tuesday’s forecast high is 32. But there could be more light snow Tuesday night as the temperature dips down to 25. The nighttime snow total is also not expected to be more than a half inch.

On Wednesday, there is another chance for light snow, but mainly before 7 a.m. During the day, the clouds are expected to make way for a sunny day with a high near 39. The chance of snow on Wednesday is 20%. Wednesday night, the low is expected to drop down to 19 with a five to 10 mph north wind. Thursday is supposed to be cloudy with a high near 32 and a north wind of five to seven mph becoming east in the afternoon.

But Thursday night could bring some more snow, mainly after midnight, when the low will be 28, according to the weather service. The chance of snow is 40%.

Friday could bring more snow before noon that turns to rain as the temperature rises to 41. The chance of precipitation is 50%. Friday night could bring more of a wintry mix as the temperature drops down to 23. The chance of precipitation Friday night is 30%.

The weekend is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 39 on Saturday and 41 on Sunday. Sunday night could see some more snow and a low around 31. And Monday could see a wintry mix of rain and snow with a high of 41.
