Noël Burr Brunner of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of January 28th, 2013, with her family by her side.
Noël was born in New York City on December 28th, 1935, the daughter of Eugene and Eugenie McMahon Burr. She grew up in East Norwalk, CT and summered at the family beach home on Belle Island.
Noël attended St. Joseph School, Sacred Heart Academy, The College of New Rochelle, and graduated from Ladycliff College in Highland Falls, NY with a degree in English.
An accomplished golfer and bridge player, Noël was a member of Shorehaven Golf Club in East Norwalk from early childhood until moving to Port Saint Lucie in 1997, then joining Ballantrae Golf and Yacht Club. Noël could most often be found either on the golf course or enjoying a game of bridge. She fought a courageous battle against lung disease for over 20 years. Her endless strength, determination, and faith have been an inspiration to all who have known her.
Noël is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Donald A. Brunner, her daughter Eileen Nolan and son-in-law Gerard, of Wilton CT, daughter Amy Thompson and son-in-law John of Forest, VA and four grandchildren whom she adored, Alec and Peyton Thompson, and Nora Noël and Richard Nolan. She was predeceased by her son, Donald A. Brunner, Jr.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 4th at 10:00 AM at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, CT. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
