Carol ‘Pop’ Schlichting, 94

Carol “Pop” Schlichting, age 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 in Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Annie Schlichting to whom he was married for 61 years until her death in 2007.

Mr. Schlichting was born in Wilton on Oct. 23, 1918, a son of William and Ann Schlichting. He did fine excavation work in Wilton and also was the sexton at Hillside Cemetery for more than 60 years, a position of which he was very proud. He was a former deputy fire chief with the Wilton Volunteer Fire Department and also was a life member of the Masons and was a member of the Ancient Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his daughter, CarolAnne Keely and her husband Daniel of Wilton, his son David Schlichting and his wife Nancy of Wilton, his sister Anna Schlichting of Wilton and four grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Keely and Steve and Scott Maksel.
