Virginia DeBenigno of Wilton, wife of the late Domenic DeBenigno, died Jan. 18, 2013 at Wilton Meadows Nursing Home. She was 97.
She was a longtime Wilton resident who also lived at the Greens at Cannondale.
Born in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. on May 2, 1915, a daughter of Genieve and Howard DeNike, she graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1932 and then the Butler Business School.
Mrs. DeBenigno was a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was an active member of the Rosary Society.
She is survived by her daughter Sylvia Littleton and her husband Art of Wilton, and her son, Arthur DeBenigno and his wife LaVerna of Ashville, NC. She also leaves two grandchildren, Michael Littleton of Newtown and Christina L. Ball and her husband David of Laurel, Md.; great-grandchildren, Fiona and Ewan Ball and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Virgil DeNike and two sisters, Mari DeNike and Ethelyn Waite.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Road, with burial immediately following at St. Mary Cemetery in Ridgefield.
In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897 or to the Wilton Library Association, 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton, CT 06897. Arrangements are in care of the Bouton Funeral Home, Georgetown.
