Weather advisory: Snow, sleet and rain headed this way

A winter weather advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain was issued for interior southern Connecticut on Tuesday morning. It is in effect from midnight to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Snow accumulation is expected to be one to two inches along with a tenth of an inch of ice, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to begin around midnight then change to a snow and sleet mix or freezing rain by Wednesday morning.

Hazardous travel is expected during the Wednesday morning commute, according to the weather service.

The forecast for today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

For tonight: A chance of rain and sleet before 1 a.m., then rain, snow, and sleet likely between 1 and 4 a.m., then snow, freezing rain, and sleet after 4. Low around 30. Northeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

For Wednesday:  Rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 1pm, then a chance of rain. High near 38. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
