Wilton’s Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer two free bereavement support groups this winter to help individuals cope with loss following the death of a spouse.
One support group will be for those who have suffered the recent loss of a spouse. This group will meet Wednesday afternoons from 4 until 5:30 beginning Jan. 9 and will continue through Feb. 27.
The second group is for those in need of ongoing bereavement support for the loss of a spouse. This group will meet Monday afternoons from 3 until 4:30, beginning Jan. 14 and continuing through March 4.
“In these support groups, we will explore the grieving process and the profound sense of personal loss that follows the death of a spouse,” said Reverend Karen Judd, a grief and bereavement counselor with the agency. “With the death of a spouse, we lose the most central relationship in our adult lives. We not only lose a loved one but an aspect of our identity as well. These bereavement support groups will help participants gain a deeper understanding of their feelings of grief and begin the process of healing.”
The support groups will meet at the visiting nurse offices in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at i.park, 761 Main Avenue (Route 7) on the Norwalk/ Wilton town line.
