Free admission for Wilton-Newtown hockey game

Following the mass shootings at an elementary school in Newtown last Friday, the Wilton High boys hockey community is asking for fans to show support by attending the Warriors’ home game against Newtown on Wednesday night at the Winter Garden in Ridgefield.

Admission will be free for the contest, which starts at 8:30.

Wilton head coach Brett Amero said there would also be a moment of silence for the 26 people killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. The death toll included 20 first graders and six adults.

“We wanted to do something nice,” said Amero. “We want our fans to come as a sign of support for Newtown.”
