Trees down after thunderstorm

A thunderstorm that ripped through Wilton at 3:20 p.m. left trees down on a number of streets.

Police scrambled at 3:33 p.m. to keep up with the reports of trees down all over town including Cannon Road, Mountain Road, and Hurlbutt Street.

There was also an accident on Danbury Road, with wires pulled down, injuries, and extrication needed. There were no other reported injuries. Many local roads were blocked at the start of rush hour at 4:59 p.m., according to the fire department At Blue Ridge Farm, there were more calls than there were units, so Ridgefield responded to an automatic fire alarm when a tree fell on a house.

Eversource reported at 4:30 p.m. that 249 out of its 7,414 customers, or 3%, were out of power.
