Wilton police log — Teen falls asleep, hits three cars

A 17-year-old Norwalk male was injured in an accident June 15 at 5:04 p.m. in which he fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended a car traveling southbound on Danbury Road. He then crossed the Norwalk town line and struck two more vehicles before coming to a complete stop upon disabling the third vehicle, according to the police report.

The operator, whose name is being withheld, was taken to Norwalk Hospital with neck pain.

He was charged with reckless driving and insufficient insurance and will appear in court on June 26.

Empty house burglary

A residential burglary was reported on Silver Spring Road on June 20 at 10:53 a.m.

Police said the listing agent for the property, which is for sale, reported the burglary. The rear glass door of the house was smashed in using a pool filter motor. Numerous doors and windows were also attempted to be opened.

The house was vacant for some time and it appeared nothing had been taken. Police said it may have been local youths looking for a place to hang out.

The case is under investigation.

Marijuana

A traffic stop on a Weston man resulted in his arrest for illegal possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Police said Daniel Duffy, 56, of 18 Katydid Lane, was pulled over after driving through a red light. The officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana and the vehicle was searched.

He was charged with illegal possession and failure to obey a signal.

He was released on a promise to appear in court July 5.

DUI

A 28-year-old New Fairfield woman was charged with driving under the influence after failing to perform a field sobriety test to standard.

Police said Erin Daily, of 1 Bogus Hill Road, New Fairfield, also had no insurance card with her.

Her motor vehicle license was under suspension and she was charged with failure to drive right in connection with the erratic driving that led to her being pulled over June 25 at 2:12 p.m.

She was released on $250 bond with a court date of July 6.

Criminal mischief

A 19-year-old Norwalk man was charged with breach of peace, criminal mischief, and throwing objects at a motor vehicle June 26 at 1:30 a.m. on Danbury Road near Hollyhock Lane after a complaint was made of someone throwing an object at a car. According to police, Matthew Mullins, 19, of 10 Hillwood Place, Norwalk, threw a ceramic cup of soda at the vehicle, which broke the side mirror. He was released on a promise to appear in court July 7.

The Wilton Police Department responded to three domestic verbal cases between June 20 and June 27.
